Systems Safety Engineer
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance: Current Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance

Overview:
Seeking a highly experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting large-scale Command & Control and Battle Management Systems development and integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, specifically in system and software safety. This position involves collaborating with diverse teams of developers, engineers, and subject matter experts to define, document, and communicate system capabilities and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience, OR
• Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with at least 7 years of progressively responsible roles.
• Expertise in systems engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
• Strong background in system and software safety.
• Experience with safety analysis methods, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), and developing Safety Analysis Reports (SARs).

Skills Required:

• Identify and define system capabilities and requirements.
• Model interrelationships between internal and external components.
• Communicate system capabilities to developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
• Generate system/element-level functional, performance, and interface specifications.
• Train and mentor less experienced personnel in systems engineering and safety techniques.
• Develop program safety plans and ensure the implementation of safety policies and guidance.
• Perform system safety engineering tasks, including safety requirements analysis and coordination of safety impacts and criticalities.

Responsibilities:

• Define physical, functional, and technical architecture to achieve desired system capabilities.
• Integrate product lines (Battle Management, Command & Control, Networks).
• Develop and document capability specifications and safety analysis reports.
• Act as a technical interface with program counterparts and stakeholders.
• Perform independent safety analysis, maintain safety documentation, and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Support the Integration & Test (I&T) process, ensuring all Safety Critical elements stay on schedule.

Additional Requirements:

• Regular travel between Colorado Springs, CO, and Huntsville, AL is required.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and management to ensure quality products are delivered on time and within budget.
