Job Description
Description Completes laboratory operations quality assurance including regulatory testing compliance, inter-laboratory crosscheck programs, statistical process control programs, laboratory training program, laboratory procedures, and equipment repair/calibration management.
- Performs analyses, calibrations, methods, maintenance and repairs of instruments.
- Installs, documents, and trains personnel on new laboratory procedures or analytical methods.
- Develops and maintains standard operating procedures.
- Writes purchase requisitions, helps manage Lab OPEX, and manages warehouse receipts.
- Tests HF acid purities once or twice a week.
- Responsible for Maintaining Raman and Water lab.
- Oversees, inspects and monitors performance of the octane engines.This includes lab technician training, participation in motor gasoline cross check programs, report preparations, and maintaining statistical process control charts.
- Responsible for ordering and blending/preparing solvent reference standards as needed.
- Performs non-routine testing as needed.
- Attends meetings and corresponds with external or regulatory agencies concerning product testing methodology.
- Assists with online analyzers with regards to online certification and quality control procedures.
- Collects and interprets analytical data.
- Attends operational meetings as needed and fills in for Refinery Lab Manager.
- Other duties as assigned (ordering of consumables, supplies, etc.)
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, or related field required.
- 3 years of directly related laboratory experience required.
- Experience in a petroleum lab preferred.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Texas City Refinery, required.
