The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Professor (or higher rank) of Family and Sports Medicine.
Serve as Lead Team Physician for Temple University Athletics to include role of NCAA Health Care Administrator.
Act as supervising physician for Temple University athletic training staff, graduate assistants and students.
Provide oversight and development of policies and procedures to foster organizational growth in accordance with local and national standards of care.
Maintain an active clinical schedule within the Family Medicine Residency program to provide patient care to meet demands of patient access.
Collaborate in the development of the sports medicine program within the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
Function as the team physician and director of athletic medicine for Division I athletics within Temple University.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine has an ACGME-approved 6/6/6 Residency Program that serves a major educational role in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University with involvement in each of the four years of the curriculum. We also maintain a clinical practice on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and participate in clinical and educational research. Additionally, our faculty members are committed to community outreach programs within the North Philadelphia area.
Our overall goal is to educate medical students, residents, and physicians to work in today's dynamic healthcare environment. This requires an understanding of how psychosocial issues influence health, a sensitivity to the needs of both patients and communities, and attention to the economics of health care delivery.
Candidate Qualifications
An M.D. or D.O. with active board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine
Possess academic credentials for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
In possession of or eligible to receive an unrestricted medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Current knowledge/experience in areas of crisis management, emergency preparedness, national issues, industry trends, best practice standards of primary healthcare, health/wellness, college health, sport medicine and health insurance related to NCAA athletics.
Support and promote diversity among faculty, staff, students and patients. Demonstrated ability to create and foster positive relationships with stakeholders, including patients, community, healthcare providers, support staff and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship as Fellowship Director, Program Director or Assistant Program Director.
5 years of supervisory, management or leadership experience with exemplified excellence of emotional intelligence and verbal/written communication skills.
