INTRODUCTION

Under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager, the EHR Epic Systems Analyst shall provide training, configuration and support for Unity’s Health Information Technology application(s). These functions will support the implementation, stabilization, optimization, maintenance, and continuing enhancement to Unity Health Care’s Epic application system. The EHR Epic Systems Analyst is responsible for planning and executing assigned projects, and enhancements.

MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, configuring, rolling out, and supporting the assigned EPIC application(s). Responsibilities include business/systems analysis, requirements definition and documentation, system design, and problem resolution. The analyst communicates with system end-users to understand issues and implement solutions. UHC requires that Epic certification be obtained within 180 days of hire. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.

  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain build and testing standards (SME Signoff or governance sign off)
  • Adhere to the best practices set by Health Information Technology division as well as UHC policies, procedures, and standards
  • Prepare documentation as needed for the implementation of enhancements or new technology
  • Follow documented change control processes
  • Perform quality control and testing to ensure that solutions are technically sound

Build, Content Management and System Configuration

  • Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions
  • Acting as the primary support contact for the application's end‐users
  • Identifying issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and working to resolve them
  • Guiding workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated
  • with Epic software
  • Identifying and implementing requested changes to the system
  • Serving as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff
  • Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
  • Working with Epic representatives, your organization's business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline
  • Implement and may prioritize requested changes or projects for the system in a timely manner while proactively communicating with end users
  • Maintain / troubleshoot build within EHR
  • Modify Epic content as prescribed by the project team
  • Communicate /participate in the implementation/optimization efforts receive approval from the governing body
  • Focus on patient safety when analyzing system configuration and enhancements
  • Perform medium risk/complex system maintenance as needed
  • Perform routine revisions to meet build metrics
  • Provide functional expertise with clinical workflow understanding to optimize the design and development of systems
  • Provide technical expertise or the design and development of systems

Support

  • Provide support and problem resolution encountered by customers
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner while proactively communicating expectations for procedures, service arrival (ETA), or project deliverables to stakeholders
  • Participate in after-hours application support and downtime procedures
  • Obtain technical and workflow knowledge of assigned applications to better troubleshoot and resolve incident
  • Facilitate issue resolution with Epic technical support

Liaison, Networking Skills and Business knowledge

  • Collect information regarding potential system enhancement and workflow resolution
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationships with customers and vendors to provide effective technical solutions and customer service
  • Collaborate with senior analysts to obtain technical and workflow knowledge of business operations
  • Attends meetings, participates in workgroups, and/or serves on committees as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or college credit equivalent in computer science, health informatics, clinical, business administration, or health care related field or work experience. BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience working with Practice Management software preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of training experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a health care institution.
  • For internal applicants, experience working as a Patient Registration Clerk, or Patient Scheduler will be considered.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Familiar with medical billing and collection procedures to include Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay.
  • Willingness to learn of new trends in practice management and information systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of business and clinical aspects of community health centers strongly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization is necessary.
  • Self-starter with good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and interrelate well with individuals.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software programs to include, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, (Epic, MyChart or other Electronic Health Record application(s) is strongly desired).
  • Willingness to learn new software products such as MS Project, Visio, Smart Sheets and PowerPoint is necessary.

RISKS

The position involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other UHC health Care Sites. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. All medical services shall be provided according to medically accepted community standards of care. The employee shall provide evidence of a recent (within the past twelve (12) months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.
