Content Writer Minimum Qualifications Summary Certification & Education - BA/BS or MA/MS degree in English, Creative Writing, or related field
Experience Required - 3 to 10 years content writing experience.
- Working knowledge of content management systems.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to handle multiple writing assignments concurrently.
- Effective communication skills.
- Writing experience related to HIV/STI prevention, young adults and/or LGBTQ networks preferred.
Job Objective Support the integration of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) prevention and sexual health resources into Housing and Urban Development (HUD) housing programs for young adults experiencing homelessness and unstable housing.
Responsibilities - With the support and guidance of the Design Director, conduct research on sexual health-related topics in order to develop original content for a sexual health resource kit for young adults that may include content such as: (a) Information about HIV, transmission and risk, PrEP and ART, and other treatment services; (b) information about STIs, transmission and risk; (c) information about sexual, reproductive, and LGBTQ+ health.
- Develop audience-focused content that is culturally and contextually relevant for homeless or unstably housed young adults ages 18-24 years, especially persons of color and LGBTQ persons.
- Proofread content for errors and inconsistencies.
- Edit and polish existing content to improve readability.
- Write copy that is readable at the 6th grade reading level.
- Create compelling headlines and body copy that will capture the attention of the target young adult audience.
- Identify client needs and recommend new content to address gaps in content.
- Develop original training module content to be delivered online as part of a packaged sexual health resource kit for young adults.
- Update content for the resource kit based on piloting feedback, formative data collection, and review by a Project Advisory Board and Youth Advisory Board.
