In this role, you will develop and apply computational methods to study human and model system genomic and transcriptomic data. You will contribute to computational biology research projects within several Alzheimer’s research projects focused on novel target discovery and prioritization. You will work closely with other researchers at Sage and at collaborating institutions to process and analyze large sequencing datasets (e.g. RNA-Seq, snRNA-Seq, WGS) using open science tools such as genomics workflow systems (Nextflow) and reproducible R packages. If you are the type of person who enjoys engaging with scientists and researchers from many disciplines; and wants to be an integral part of a team that includes computational biologists, research ethicists, software engineers, and data librarians, we would love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing:
Design, build, implement, and maintain infrastructure necessary for storing and processing large volumes of data.
Create and manage data architecture, data pipelines, and processing systems for the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of bioinformatics data from a variety of data sources.
Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, data analysts, product teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements to technical specifications and coded data pipelines.
Develop robust and scalable solutions that transform bioinformatics data into a useful format for analysis, enhance data flow, and enable end users to consume and analyze data faster and easier.
Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies for bioinformatics data infrastructure and processing.
Work with structured and unstructured bioinformatics data from a variety of data stores, such as data lakes, relational database management systems, and/or data warehouses.
